A new groundbreaking Holocaust Galleries at Imperial War Museum (IWM) London make it the first museum in the world to present and examine the Holocaust within the context of the Second World War.
The After the Trauma exhibit, located at the end of the gallery, encapsulates the stories of every individual featured throughout the exhibition. Each person’s narrative is paired with their personal belongings and photographs from both past and present. This final exhibit offers a space for visitors to sit, reflect, and absorb these stories of life before, during, and after the Holocaust.
Bringing together over 400 life stories and more than 1,000 images of belongings and photographs, this linear film loops for over three and a half hours, allowing visitors to experience the gallery multiple times and still encounter new faces and stories each visit. To convey the sheer volume of content, a wide shot displays all of the stories together on a large 3m x 8m projection, creating a powerful sense of scale.
